Tricentis set to discontinue TestProject in 2023

TestProject was acquired by Tricentis in August 2019, and since then, Tricentis has made sizable investments in the platform while continuing to uphold the platform’s original commitment to keeping its use completely free. However, the significant work necessary to maintain and update the platform has led Tricentis to the conclusion of retiring TestProject on 31st March 2023 and concentrating resources on Tricentis Testim, an AI-based SaaS test automation platform.

How will this impact TestProject users?

New account creation will be restricted starting on November 16, 2022, and all currently active accounts will be taken down and access to the platform will be terminated on March 31, 2023.

What should TestProject users do about their test cases?

Before March 31, 2023, all test cases must be moved to a different platform. This can be done in one of the following ways:

    • Export into Code (Python, C#, Java).
    • Export into a TestProject YAML format.
    • Export as a Test Document (Excel).
    • Using GitHub integration, connect to GitHub and sync all tests with repositories (will be synced as YAMLs as well).

After March 31, 2023, users who have connected TestProject and Tricentis qTest will not have access to the TestProject Test Cases or execution reports for editing, viewing, or execution. Test Runs, Test Cases, Test Logs, and Test Step Logs will all be kept up to date in qTest after TestProject has been stopped.

Does Tricentis offer an alternative testing solution?

Testim is available from Tricentis in both a free Community edition and a paid version with more advanced, strong testing features. The company is providing a unique 25% discount on Tricentis Testim for 1 year starting right now through December 30, 2022, to ease users with their transition. Even though TestProject’s journey is coming to an end, its core capabilities and technology are also present in the more capable test automation products Tricentis Tosca and Tricentis Testim, including soon-to-be-available improved mobile capabilities.
